The Use of Heat in Physiotherapy:
Limitation of motion is one of the major areas of concern in rehabilitation. One of the most important goals in physiotherapy is the restoration of your full range of motion (ROM) to maximize function. Shortening of connective tissue or the formation of scar tissue often causes limited range of motion. Heat has proven advantageous in relaxing and loosening up connective tissue for further treatment.
Heat should not be utilized immediately after an injury due to the fact that in will increase inflammation in the injured tissue causing further damage to the tissue. Please consult Dr. Rae for proper utilization of heat therapy.
