What is Chiropractic Care?
What is chiropractic is all about? Do you think it requires regular treatments for the rest of your life? Is the doctor's sole focus the spine? Just as there are many different types of medical doctors, Dr. Dan Rae, D.C. will introduce you to a new approach in chiropractic.
Chiropractic health care was discovered by Daniel David Palmer in 1895. As with conventional medicine, chiropractic educational standards have improved over the past century. In fact, most chiropractors have completed a bachelor's degree prior to entering chiropractic college. Once in chiropractic college, a rigorous four-year program of study is completed to become a primary health care provider. Chiropractic education includes bioscience classes such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, and nutrition, as well as clinical sciences that including physical diagnosis, neurology, lab, and x-ray analysis. The final year-and-a-half of school includes a clinical internship.
In chiropractic school we learn to address all aspects of health, not just the spine. However, some chiropractors choose to focus solely on the spine. While this may work for some patients, Dr. Rae strives to be complete health resource for his patients. This means that he pays careful attention to all aspects of your health, including your complete health history, all the muscles and bones of your body (not just your spine), your diet, and specific lab and imaging studies as needed. Dr. Rae received extensive training in chiropractic school and chiropractors are often times the most qualified doctors to provide care to muscle and joint problems throughout the body. If you sprain your ankle or wrist, your chiropractor should be the first place you go. The same goes for that shoulder problem that never seems to go away or that knee that keeps "giving out."
It is true that we all want quantity and quality life. We want to live as long as we can and we also want our quality of life to be sustained through those years. The options to achieve these goals are innumerable. From medical doctors and pharmaceuticals to acupuncturists and naturopathic doctors, the spectrum of choices can be overwhelming. In information age of today it is hard to keep up on all the possible health remedies.
What you need is a health coach. A doctor that will take the time to listen and have the knowledge to direct you to the best option for your care. A doctor that will inform you about the risks and rewards of your treatment options and not force a treatment on you. Dr. Rae is well trained and has focused his practice around being that person for you. An office visit with Dr. Rae includes about twenty minutes of face-to-face time.
