LITTLE LEAGUER'S SHOULDER
A 14-year-old male baseball pitcher complains of shoulder pain that occurs mainly when throwing hard. The pain has come on gradually. He points to a tender area that located in the front part of the arm just below the shoulder joint.
Rotational stresses on the growth plate at the upper portion of the arm result it what is called a Salter-Harris Type I injury (fracture to the growth plate) in pitchers who over-pitch or who pitch too frequently.
