The patient is a young male or female (age 13-17 years) who presents with a complaint of midback pain and fatigue. The patient has an increase curvature in the midback.
The cause of Sheuermann's disease has been debated for years. Currently, Sheuermann's disease is believed to be the result of vertebral growth plate trauma during the adolescent period with interruption or cessation of further growth. There is a small male predominance and an increased incidence among family members.
