PATELLAR TENDONITISpatellar_tendonitis.jpg

Classic Presentation

Patellar tendonitis (also called "jumper's knee") is seen often in athletes complaining of pain in the front of the knee with activities that involve jumping or sprinting.

Cause

Repetitive stress to the patellar tendon (ligament) is common with jumping and running sports.  It appears that this is often an eccentric injury.
