The patient complains of upper back stiffness and achiness with assiciated signs of arm numbness and/or tingling (often in a stocking and glove pattern). There may be associated headaches
The cause of T4 syndrome is unknown. Patients may report occurences during the night or upon rising. This syndrome is more common in women (4:1 ratio) in the age range of 30 to 50 years. Prolonged sitting, sustained reaching and pulling activities, shoveling, and overhead cleaning have all been reported by patients.
